In 1950, five visionary individuals from Wedowee, Alabama, set out to change history. They shared a vision of helping Wedowee and the surrounding communities grow by providing the most basic essentials of human existence: community utilities including water, sewer, and gas. Through the years, the Water, Sewer & Gas Board of the Town of Wedowee has expanded its reach, now serving more than 2,500 customers through over 50 miles of buried pipe. A significant surge in growth occurred with the creation of the R.L. Harris Dam project by Alabama Power, leading to the establishment of the recreational lake now known as Lake Wedowee, which features more than 110 miles of shoreline and over 10,000 acres of water. Each year, our community continues to experience strong growth, as more people are drawn to the charm of our small-town atmosphere and the promise of our big-dream community. Come as you are, enjoy our way of life, and remember: big is what you left behind—here, we still believe in knowing our neighbors by name,
